Best D300 IQ: Noise, Dynamic Range, ISO, and exposing right

Looking at the dpreview of the D300 and its tests of dynamic range ( http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond300/page20.asp ) it seems that using ISO 100 reduces dynamic range and that ISO 400 offers the best dynamic range with minimal increase in noise.
What is also interesting is that ISO 100 and 400 seem to extend better into the darker tones than 200.
So, if you are trying to maximize IQ would you shoot to the right with 200 and post process backwards? Would you use ISO 400 and aim for the perfect exposure?
Should you always shoot to the right and post process backwards?
Comments on what ISO to use and how to best maximize the D300 IQ would be greatly appreciated.
