Real Newby question re: printing/paper

I've just made the switch to digital. I know that I can use an inkjet printer to print out my photos, but what kind of paper is good to use. Printing on "copy" or "multi-purpose" paper looks awful. Sorry for the dumb question. Except for when I was a kid and developed and printed my own B & W film about 40 years ago, I've always just dropped rolls off at a drug store, Costco, etc.
