D300 CF - Ultra II too slow for you? Why?

I posted a question a few weeks back and most said they thought the SanDisk Ultra II was too slow...
The front of the card reads 15MB/s and the website states, "Minimum sustained write speed of 9MB per second and a read speed of 10MB per second". Why is this too slow for so many people?
When I switched my D300 to RAW + JPG Fine, the viewfinder read "r15"...
The reason I'm asking is because Costco has a instore rebate right now where you can pick up a 4GB CF Ultra II for only $27.99
I have a few upcoming weddings where I'll need the extra cards, and while there are a few points durring the wedding where you do want a fast card, I would think that "r15" would be sufficient for most of the day. Besides the bouquet toss and rice pelting, I doubt I will need an Extreme IV card... such as the formal shots or the bride getting ready, and so forth...
Tell me where I'm wrong... please...
