In order to asses correctly how far to the right you can go before blowing the highlights, set the in-camera Picture Style contrast low. Even if shooting RAW, the current Picture Style is applied to the JPG review thumbnail, from which the histogram is determined. Lowering the contrast will reduce false overexposure blinkies that might display if the contrast were left normal (or set higher than 0).
