A620-CCD failure, are there more cases?
Mar 19, 2008

On my 18 months old A620 the recording function was lost from one day to the other without any physical abuse or damage to the camera. In recording mode (AUTO or any of the other exposure modes), the TFT monitor displays the usual information on a black screen and the cam tries to autofocus (in vain). I can take a picture, but it is all black. Replay function on the TFT monitor is fine, I can review all images taken prior to the defect.

Now this reminds me very much of the SONY CCD-sensor issue in 2005, which affected my Dimage 7i amongst a bunch of other cameras, including many Canon models too.
(one of many infos:

I wonder therefore, if other users made the same experience with Canon A series Cameras with a 1/1.8" CCD sensor made around 2006.

Might it be, that the problem was not yet solved in this generation of cameras?
