Anyone using 14-24 on a DX as a replacement for 20-35 on FF

Hi

I used to love using my 20-35 on my F5 and now use a Sigma 10-20 on my D2Xs for wide shots. The 10-20 is good for architecture but flares badly and a poor choice for my style of group portraiture.

I'm more interested in putting my money into lenses than a new body and feel the 14-24 may be a good choice for me due to (hopefully) better flare characteristics and less distortion at the long end for group portraiture, yet still very useful for architecture. It also gives me a lens I can use when I do upgrade to a FF sensor in maybe 1-2 years.

Anyone using the 14-24 who uses it in a similar manner? What are your thoughts on this choice versus other options?
