kenko extension tubes
Feb 28, 2008

I went to my camera shop to be informed about a macro lens I would like to buy in the near future. I was looking at the canon 100 macro lens.
I already own 3 L lenses. 70-200 2.8, 24-105 and the 17-40 on my 30D.
The guy at the shop also informed me about the kenko extension tubes.

We did a test on my 70-200 and I was impressed that it actually made an "macro" lens of it.

Are there any downsides of using the tubes in terms of IQ? I quess not since there is no extra glass involved.
Would it give me equal results as a dedicated macro lens?

Could anybody inform me about the tubes in general? Good? Bad? Should I consider it?

Surely it would be a small investment to create macro images.
