Lego.

I agree. I'm looking to buy my first DSLR and have been doing
research on the different brands. Sony's DSLRs are very good, but I
think their lens family has something to be desired. Not bad lenses,
just limited in selection, and not a lot of fast lenses (low f
numbers). At least not compared to Nikon, Canon, Oly.
The Sony Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* 24-70 f/2.8 looks great. A fast
mid range zoom. But expensive at $1750.

Some will say buy Minolta lenses. But only a few places are selling
those new, and that stock is running out.

Sony certainly can't compare to Nikon and Canon in the lens deptartment yet, but the are making good strides. Sony 2.8 or faster lenses (not including Minolta, Tamron, or Sigma)

20mm 2.8
35mm 1.4
50mm 1.4
50mm 2.8 macro
100mm 2.8 macro
Zeiss 85mm 1.4
Zeiss 135mm 1.8 (fastest 135mm of any company)
Zeiss 24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8
300mm 2.8

I think that's about it so far.

Also, at PMA they are showing the bodies of a few more fast wide angles, and a wide angle 2.8 zoom, and more lenses like a 200mm 2.8 Around 8 in total yet to be released.

Clearly not in Nikon land yet, but a lot of the holes can be filled with used Minolta lenses, and they're doing better.
