Need your opinion

Hi All,
I am back again with another question and need your opinion.
Recently I came across with an idea of using split screen focusing screen in my Oly E-500. Initially it seems very helpful for manual focusing. But read few articles on the net, some are saying its a good option but the metering gets affected for manual lenses beyond f/5.6.
Now, my basic need is to use this screen in low light condition. Coz, with the in built screen, i find sometimes difficult focusing objects, specialy with dark background.
Can you please suggest me, whether it'll be a good choice? The screen itself is a bit costly, nearly 100$ (3100 NT$ in Taiwan), that's why I am in doubt, whether to invest or not.
By the way, I have got my new 11-22 f/2.8~3.5 on 1st Jan (just for sharing the info. with you all) and my next target is 14-54.
sincerely,
sumit
