Vista print drivers

I have two computers. My wife's has Vista and my computer has XP operating system. I have been using Qimage and printing to an Epson 2400 printer. Today my wife networked her computer so she could use the Epson 2400 and I downloaded Qimage to her computer. After installing it the program loades very slow. I did get a message saying that I need Vista drivers for the Windows default printer. If I download the new Vista drivers for her computer will that mess up the printer where I can't print from the XP computer. Does the drivers go directly to the printer or does it stay with the computer you download it to?
