using d300 multi-selector for magnification?

using d300 multi-selector for magnification?

I hear you can assign the center button of the Multi-Selector Dial to jump to any magnification for image preview although i cant find how to set it up.

I'm beginning to think its a urban legend

any help would be appreciated.
