Firework shootout (please help, search engine doesnt work)

Hello all,
maybe this is quite a silly question, but what are the best settings to use when shooting fireworks with D80?
Problem is, im a newbie and just got my D80 less than a month ago and haven't quite learnt about its abilities and settings. I am in Holland right now and forgot the manual book in Russia, which really doesnt help things. And to make it worse, Dutch go nuts with the fireworks on New Year's night...
If you can help or even guide me in the right direction, I'd be more than grateful!
Also, the search engine doesn't work so Im not being lazy, I cant even search for a relevant topic.
Thanks!
I was also trying to shoot the full moon last night and all I managed to get was a bright spot in the dark sky, as opposed to getting a moon with all it's spots and impurities... any tips on that one?
Im using a kit (18-135mm) lens
