Canon EOS 350D still a good SLR?

Hi,
I have seen this camera for £200 now.
Is this still a good camera considering its an old model now?
I currently have a Kodak Z650, what are the benefits of buying the Canon, apart from the widescreen pictures.
What are the other benefits of an SLR?
I have read the Canon's review on this site, but it is an old review now, so not sure how relevant it is, considering new models are out now.
Will I get better pics under low light, (ie indoor pics)
Also what is the optical zoom for the Canon?
I am a novice user.
