Epson P-3000 stated raw zooming capability misleading?
Dec 6, 2007

I just got the P-3000 but I can't zoom in on my NEF file at all! In the manual, it states it can zoom in up to 100%. It shows the NEF, but only up to the point where it fully fits the 4 inch screen. I called tech support and the guy said it's only taking the jpeg data from the RAW header file and it can't zoom in 100%. That still doesn't explain for the wording about being able to zoom RAW files. Looking at Epson's website, it clearly states that you can zoom RAW files! errr!

See for your self:

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=FandB&oid=63061067&category=Products

See page 27 in the pdf manual:
http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/p3k___/p3k___ug.pdf

Does anyone else think the wording about the zooming feature of the P-3000 misleading or am I some crazy nut who like to spend several minutes with tech support?

For goodness sakes, it says "zoom" or "zooming", so it implies that if I hit the zoom in or out button, something should happen. But nothing happens with regards to NEF files. Please explain to me what JPEG header data non-sense that guy talking about when in their website and in the manual, in plain English, it states it can zoom RAW files up to 100%?!
