40D kits 17-85 vs 28-135

Hi everyone,
after a long time of homework, we finally decided to buy 40D. we have been reading reviews here about the camera for months. now our question is which kit lens would be better off in a long run, 17-85 or 28-135? we are in Australia and the kit here is 17-85 as same as the kit camera sold in China, but we noticed that 28-135 kit is sold in US. My wife pays special attention to iq and I like shooting landscape photos. any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
