Canon 4300 Cartridge Chip Problem
Oct 6, 2007

I am having problems with Canon CLI 8 cartridges in my Pixma 4300. After refilling the cartrdges (by the way I have been refilling cartridges for 9 years now, but these are the first chipped cartridges I have dealt with), the printer, after happily working with the refilled cartridge for a while, does not recognise the cartridge and will not print. This occurs after the ink level warning has been disabled.

It seems to me that there may be a set of bad chips on the cartridges, or I have touched the chip surface during refilling???

I would appreciate any advice on how to successfully manage these cartridges.

While I am very happy with the quality of Canon prints, I cannot afford to buy Canon OEM cartridges. If I cannot solve this problem I might just have to move to an Epson printer where the chips can be reset.

Lindsay
