Oly sales Down Under

In the most recent issue of "Australian Photography", the best-selling photography magazine here, comes the following snippet:

"Olumpus had some rather average cameras in its Four/Thirds line-up until last year when it released the E-410 and E-510m, two cameras that embody everything we loved about the Olympus OM system. As a result, in just 12 months Olympus DSLR sales have quadruped." (p52)

In the same issue there are only 4 full-page ads for DSLRs: one the Nikon D40x, one the Canon 400D, one for the e410, and one for the e510. The two Oly ads are in the popular Image Doctor section, of which Olympus has been a long-term sponsor (the winner gets an mju compact, a fact that this month also warranted a plug on the front page).

Finally, there is a positive review by Peter Burian of the e510 (a syndicated piece, I believe), the only review in the issue.

So some marketing effort that appears to paying dividends.
