2.8L 400mm Owners -Question
This is a good consideration. I would also add that if you ever plan on switching to a 500 or 600 you may find that you will miss the 300. This happened to me. I just sold my 400 f/2.8 to get the 500 f/4 and I'm wishing I kept my 300 f/2.8. Oh well.
Another thing, the 300 is something you can handhold. You'd have to be a barbarian to handhold the 400 f/2.8 for any length of time. So, if freedom of movement is important you may find more of a use for the 300 than you might think.
Do you ever use the 300/2.8 without the TC? If so, then you'll
likely still use it in addition to the 400/2.8. If not, then it will
be redundant with the new 400.
