Shooting straight down problem

I have a d200, when shooting straight down "most of the time" but not always in the horizontal position... when viewing the picture on camera it only displays in the middle 1/3 of the screen only. Typically the pictures are displayed full screen. Is this normal, some setting is wrong, or is there something wrong with the camera?
