... I agree. But this was one of the main points I was asking about.
Lens distortion can be eliminated during post-processing on a PC.
So why can't it be done 'on the fly' by a powerful processor in
the camera? I think that would be a very elegant way to deal
with unavoidable shortcomings of zool lenses.

Regarding primes and the almost infinite choice one has with a
lens mount ... this was the other point I was trying to make.
I've been running around with FM, FE and Fm3a cameras
plus half a dozen prime lenses for the most part of my
life and frankly, I'm quite tired of it. That's why I was
asking for this sort of high quality 24mm-135mm
Lens. For me this would be an ideal compromise.
