Surely you have tried this yourself and know that it doesn't work - just makes the flash try harder and give a bigger output. But because it is covered the light goes nowhere at a higher output wasting battery power and probably distressing the flash unit. In the meantime the aperture expects flash and underexposes - you get Guy's black images.
