I would be absolutely stunned if Nikon did not bring this lens back out -- either as-is or in an AF-S version. They now finally have the camera to do it justice.

As an aside I do not expect to see DX prime wides at this point. Unfortunately.

I would think with the D300 there ought to be a market for them. The D300 looks like it will be good eough to take on a fully fledged pro role whether replacing a D2HS or a D2X, but I think the D3 is going to get a lot of attention and the very competitive price on the D300 paradoxically says to me that it's only a matter of time before full-frame shows up in its segment too. I still hope Nikon will see the light and produce a couple of fast wide DX primes, let's say a 15/2.8 and a 20/1.4. The wider one is especially important if they do not either get more consistent on manufacturing 12-24 lenses or replace it with a better product. I'd have both those two given the chance and forget the 12-24.
