1DMkII metering

I went to a indoor Volleyball game today to take some shots and I got some odd results.

Set to M, ISO 3200, 1/640, f2.0, evaluative metering, WB set to Flourescent lighting. I was handheld with a 100/f2 lens.

In any given series of shots almost every other shot was fine while those in between were kinda greenish with nearly blown highlights. Should I have used center-weighted or partial or spot metering for this indoor sports event?

Focusing seemed kinda slow to hit and inaccurate as well. I had AI servo set to +1 faster and used center point with af assist of the 7 points.

I got this camera a few weeks ago and, although the focusing is faster and more accurate than my 20D, I was expecting phenomenal. Maybe I was expecting foolproof when I just was expecting too much for a low light situation like this?

Joe
