My cropping... lol... that sounds kind of funny.

I am often reminded of the rule of thirds when reading and browsing articles online or in publications. I try to incorporate that rule to define movement to a place (especially when shooting underwater) or to help in defining the space of a subject. As a new photographer I would like to know what you think about the photo below with relationship to that rule and whether or not you might have cropped it even closer or not at all. I have included a full shot of this handsome showoff that I didn't think reflected his personality as well as this crop does. I have also included an underwater that I think presents this concept well. Thoughts?
