Focus screen with50-500mm Sigma?

Can anyone please advise? I have a 10D and use a Sigma 50-500mm plus 1.4 TC for bird photographs etc. Is it worth buying a focusing screen? I can't always obtain accurate focus and waste a few good shots.
Most of the posts on the 2 makes of screen available are rather old and don't cover this lens combination.
