Is a Canon 100mm F2 + 50mm F1.8 on 400D a good combo?
Jul 12, 2007

I have bought Canon 100mm F2 for my Canon 400D mainly for portrait, I was considering the 85mm F1.8 but shifted to 100mm and I think I should have bought the 85 instead because with the 100 mounted on 400D, I need get far away from the subject to be photographed, and mainly focuses on the head if you to stay near the subject.

The problem is that I can’t return it back and get the 85mm f1.8, so what are my options? In this case I want to get the head and shoulders which the 100mm f2 don’t usually get it indoors.

If I get the 50mm F1.8, will this solve my problem? Will I be able to take good portrait shots indoors in small to medium spaces with head and shoulders? And then is it reasonable to have the 100mm F2 plus the 50mm F1.8?

My gear is Canon 400D + Kit Lens + Canon 100mm F2 + Speedlight EX430
Your cooperation is highly appreciated

And thanks a lot
