Photography trips (tours)

I thought I posted this question before, but it appears that I either didn't hit the "Post" button, or that the post was deleted for some reason. If this isn't an appropriate question, I apologize for reposting it.

My question is this...

I've been looking into various internaional tours. However, as my primary interest in the travel is taking photographs, I thought it might be best to look into tours specifically geared towards photographers. An internet search quickly points to several such companies.

Has anyone participated in such a tour? And if so, do you have any recommendations as to how I should proceed?
