Danger if shooting on the beach??

I was on the beach today and shooting in moderate wind. Found a lot of sand particles on my Z612 after that. Is this bad? Can the sand broke my camera? At full tele I think that the sand can enter inside near the lens. What do you think? Any experiences? Thanks in advance.
