g7 battery indicator?

I chose the g7 over the sony v3 four days ago, and at least to this point i am very disappointed by it, for a number of reasons. but i'm not here to talk about that, I have a question..

Is there no battery left indication AT ALL? I haven't been able to find it anywhere, searched the manual & options on the camera, and can't find a single thing showing me how much battery I have left, not even approximately.

Does anyone know if that's true or if there is an option I haven't found?

If there isn't, I feel this is an insult to our intelligence. Such a highly respected company as canon produced a camera with so many options, so allegedly detailed and precise and they simply haven't thought of putting a battery life left indicator? There's no such case, it's just a moronic way to make us buy another battery to carry at all times.
