Face Recognition a Must Have for the P&S Crowd?
May 14, 2007

I'm in the market for a new P&S after my Canon S30 died and am currently leaning towards the sd700 IS. The sd850 IS has been announced and mostly I've written it off as "unnecessary" for my needs. But...... Face

Recognition looks like a tempting feature esp as I spend lots of time trying to take (mostly indoor) shots of moving toddlers and babies. (There is also an emotional factor in that a long time ago I took a photo of my grandparents while they were looking uncommonly relaxed and smiling (we had been telling jokes) with my Minolta Freedom III, forgetting to focus on one of them. The result was a nice crisp shot of the wallpaper, two blurry faces, and a feeling of loss.)

I know that lots of people have written Face Recognition off as a frill feature; that they can live without. But those who have it, do you love it?

Thanks in advance,
A Fraser
