FZ50 tcon-17 lens seperation.
May 3, 2007

We have owned and used a FZ10 since June of 2004 with a con 17. In March we bought a FZ 50 and are using the t-con 17 with it. Yesterday my wife had it hanging around her neck and used her forearm to swing it to the side while bending over to pick up her camera bag. Her arm pushed against the converter which separated from the camera along with the part of the lens it threads into. That part is held on with 4 very small screws.

We have been reading this forum since before we bought the FZ10. We don't read it every day so we don't know if anyone else has had this problem. We do know there are a lot here who use converters and is why we bought ours.

The lens design appears to be a little different on the FZ50 because we didn't need the adapter we use with the FZ10. Is this difference a weak point? Has it been mentioned on the forum before as happening with any of the FZ line?

We have talked with Panasonic and they said they will determine whether they will fix it under warranty after inspection of the camera. Has anyone else been in this situation?

If this is a weak point with the newer lens design, we will all need to be aware of it and be more careful. BnB
