Yes, that setup is like shooting with a bazooka. I used that type
of setup a lot in 2004 with the 300D I had at the time. A common
favorite for me was the tamron 2x, a 12 or 20mm tube, and the canon
100mm (often with the 500D because I liked the effect it has on the
bokeh).

Now you realize that the more you do this, the more interested in
the mp-e 65mm you are going to get. Unfortunately, that lens works
best with a twinflash, so while that setup is lighter/smaller than
the bazooka, it will lighten your wallet considerably.

I bought the MT-24 last year and the MR-14 just a few months ago -so for me the expense is just the lens

Always minimal post processing and no cropping -unless you count the viewfinder...
