Color of Photos - monitor vs. Photo editing program
Apr 2, 2007

I downloaded the trial version of Capture and of course have installed the Picture Project that came with the D40. Prior I was using a couple of other lite photo software programs. However, with Capture and Picture Project when I import any photos the color, and tone is different, more vibrant and rich looking. When I view them on the monitor outside of either program it looks totally different. I have no problem with the monitor and I have always viewed crystal clear, sharp photos. My other photo programs show the same colors as my monitor.

I plan to print my own and have the local photo shop run a quick print for comparisons. My question is; are the programs showing the truer colors or are they skewed. Which should I go by, the monitor color or the program color?

Thanks,
Eia
