Smooth portraits

Some time ago there has been a thread on slick and smooth portraits in which small irregularities in skin are removed / suppressed. All those using a Canon top-camera will recognise the problem. I’m talking about small hairs pores, what so ever. Does anyone still has the key to this thread or does anyone have methods to make this glamour like looks in a portrait?
