Not true: there is a clear difference between all printing modes to the naked eye, and even more under a loupe. You just have to look for the right stuff in the image.

Yes, depends on paper, but even on papers printeted with photo
black (Pictirico PGHG, Hahnemuehle Fine Art Pearl, Epson Premium
Semi glossy....), the difference is very small - if at all visible
in regular viewing conditions. I agree to your last statement -
it's more or less a question of "taste".

My prints show that even on (high quality) mat paper, there is a clear superiority to uni-directional 2880 dpi.
