I used Noiseware Community Edition and it's very good. For me is extremely simple to use and yields great results.

You don't have to know a lot about noise reduction to use it. After an USM the image is amazing.

It's normal that a large sensor gives better high ISO performance because each pixel is larger so it can capture more light and the signal is higher therefore at the same noise level the signal to noise ratio is better. From the calculations a APC-S sensor should give the same level of noise at ISO 400 as the small sensor in the compact world at ISO 100. A full frame should have the same level of noise at ISO800.
