tripod question

hi all,

i want to get a tripod for my 30d(with grip) to shoot some landcape pictures much like the pros at http://www.timecatcher.com do.

I'm new to the hobby (after stopping about 11 years ago) but I guess my requirements would be:

• durability (for odd adventurous places/terrain)

• light weight (as I would be travelling lot with it and will potentially be hiking with it)

• ball head (just because)

• and four legs for stability (although i'm open to opinion)

• value for your money (I'm not sure how much good tripods for my purpose cost)

I know the 30D will not withstand some of the humid terrain I'm planning on going to but I will eventually get a Mark III or something, but thats a different story/post altogether.
