Is my polarizer circular or linear?
Feb 26, 2007

Many years ago I bought a Hoya polarizing filter for my Nikon FE2, 35-mm film camera. It was bought from the same photo store that I got the FE2 from. My question is this: How can I tell if it is circular or linear? There is no indication of the filter itself. It just reads: "Hoya 52mm PL" on its edge. The small pamphlet that came with it discusses both types of polarizers, simply referring to them as "PL-Linear" and "PL-Circular," but again no way of differentiating one from the other when no other markings are on the thing; i.e., just the letters "PL" are on the beast itself. Any helpful comments or advice? Thanks in advance.
