Forest photo help needed (dynamic range problem)

Hi,

Please tell me what settings you use in high contrast situations like in a forest. Fill flashes seem to produce an unnatural look for me.

I use a Pro1. My skies get blown out before I can get good detail in the shadows.

There must be some tricks to minimize the problem. All suggestions are appreciated.

Which cameras have the biggest dynamic range?
