'gamers' laptop for photographers?

I have been looking for a laptop for field use at events, - a Thinkpad T60 has been recommended to me, then I saw an ASUS G1 'gamers' laptop, core2 duo, the screen is 1680 x 1050 (but glossy) and it has 2gb Ram standard.

Is there any downside to using a 'gamers' laptop? It looks like battery life is only about 2 - 3 hours and the card reader is only 4 in 1 - it does not read CF cards.

It would only be for field use, - about 10 hours per month, my desktop PC would still do the bulk of the work.
