Pentax K10D D-BG2

Hi guys, i have wonder about K10D D-BG2 power grip.
i tried to turn power on from power grip it doesn't work
is it normal or something wrong?.

in the manual doesn't say it can turn power on by the power
grip switch. for me, i though it should.

first i have to turn the power on from body switch and then
turn power switch on at the grip, so i can use every buttons on
the grip.
did i miss understood some where in both MANUAL body and grip.
