"This warranty does not apply to any defects or damage directly or indirectly caused by or resulting from the use unauthorized replacement parts and/or service performed by unauthorized personnel."

Straight from the D200 Warranty. Sure, using a 3d party battery doesn't void the warranty, but that is a distinction without a difference. Damage to your body from a 3d party battery (directly or indirectly) means that damage is not covered. The end result is the same thing as voiding the warranty. If you then have that damage repaired, it will have to be by a 3d party. Then, you are exposed to the possibility that anything else that goes wrong can be linked to the fact the body was worked on by a thrid party, again not covered by the Nikon warranty. You can wind up with a "valid" and not voided warranty that provides no coverage.
