color profile -RGB98 or 'My Spyder profile'?

Hi there,
When choosing color space for CS2 & Aperture which should I choose.
My camera is set for Adobe RGB 1998 - which I believe is the standard.
I have recently calibrated my imac using colorvision Spyder2 - therefore I have created my own screen profile: lets call this 'My Spyder Profile'.
So it's an option in all the color space menu's. I am confused a little. I have chosen Adobe RGB 1998 (for now) but should I choose 'My Spyder Profile' ? if so, how does this effect my work with respect to my Camera files & any files I send to clients?
If Adobe 1998 is the correct space to work in, why do they give an option for your own color space?
any advice very much apprecited...
cheers
