Personally, I like the photo you are showing. I think the dark areas help do two things...emphasize the environment of a club. Not being there I can't tell, but to me, most clubs are darker.....looks good to me. The second, is that it helps draw the eye to the subjects. In this case, they are really emphasized well.

Overall, you can use a higher ISO. I would say safely ISO 1600 with minimal grain at all. You could drag the shutter down a bit more, but then you do risk movement from the subjects and potential background folks. You could ad more light via remote flashes, etc...

I would say start with a higher ISO first and see what your results are like.
