Canon A540 vs Sony S600

Hi,

I am looking to get my 16 year old sister a camera for Christmas and have so far narrowed it down to the above two (I think). These are both at about the top of my budget (approx £120 here in the UK).

Don’t have any exact requirements other than the following which I would like.

Compact size (she will be travelling for a month in India with the school next summer)
Easy operation
High quality movie mode
Large LCD
Excellent image quality (obviously)

She does not have a specific photographic interest (just likes to record events, holidays, friends, etc) therefore I expect it to be used in one of the auto modes for most of the time.

Any input would be gratefully received.
