Change skin colour

Hi all,

I am trying to change a persons skin colour in a photo from white to asian as she likes to wear Indian type dress. I have selected all the skin, filled with brown on a new layer, blending mode color,but this does not seem to work ,tried other blending modes but none seem to work. What should I do to make this work?. Using Photoshop CS2 WinXP
