Using digital camera for archiving?
Jan 4, 2002
I've got thousands of handwritten notes in all sorts of scrapbooks,
I'd hate to lose all that, so I thought of digitizing it.
OK I could use a scanner, but I fear that this would take too long
because it requires bending over, and a lot of effort for each page to
digitize. Besides which, it doesnt require much more than 1 mega pixels
per page. Now my digital camera (a Sony DSC 50) is OK so far as
quality goes, but I cant help feeling it could be faster:
With my digital camera, I need to wait a few seconds between each
shot while it records on the "memory stick". Then I end up having
to download the content of the memory stick on to the hard disk.
Isnt there a faster way?
I wondered if some digital cameras cant download the picture
to the hard disk directly without storing first on the memory-limited
card/stick of the camera. Firewire would be great, because of speed,
but USB would be acceptable.
