For me, the big benefit is in macro photography where I just can't get to a point where I could see a viewscreen straight on, for example photographing an insect in some bushes. I can angle the display so that I can see it from the side of the bushes where I can stand. In this respect, it's only the multi angle twist & flip type display such as the one on the A620 that is valuable. Displays that can only be angled in the vertical plane such as the one on the Fuji S9500 or Olympus E330 are a lot less usable.
