Hummingbirds, preying mantis and Lawrence Poh

Wasn't Lawrence Poh a member of Nikon Talk as late as a couple of years ago? The name rings a bell and I thought it was from this forum but could be confusing it. I'm good at that.

I see at the bottom of the article that he passed away in 2004, that he was an avid 'digiscoper' and used a Nikon 9XX model.

Speaking of birds, Hannah and I were mowing the backyard today (a photo from a year or two ago)

and I noticed a preying mantis perched on a hummingbird feeder. I stopped the mower long enough to get the camera and take a picture..

and proceeded on with the job. Later I saw that the hummers would dart at the insect now and then and the mantis seemed to lunge at the birds. Sorry to say I didn't get a photo of that. I posted the picture on Nikoncafe later and half jokingly asked if preying mantis' harmed hummingbirds, as if they could actually catch one. One of the members, Lisa.. replied that actually they can and do, and supplied this link to an article..
