What if ...

... you were starting you lens kit again, What would you get?

standard, Marco & tele (Mid range budget):

The main reason I ask is that I'm purchasing a 30D (I do not own a DSLR but have been enjoying photography for the last 3 years or so ... time to jump into the DSLR owners club) but have read mixed review on the 17-85 IS lens lens kit option that comes with the 30D and was looking for a alternative ?

My current thinking is:
standard: Sigma 24-70 EX DG (likely to use this 70% of the time!!!)
Macro: Canon 60mm

tele: not really interested but likely the sigma 70-300 or tamron 70-300 - cheapest?

If anyone would have any advise I'd very much appriciate it.
